PROJECTS
Crate Diggers
Imperial & K.I.N.E.T.I.K.
Label: EMI PM
“Imperial and K.I.N.E.T.I.K. are at it again, this time sampling from the legendary KPM crates courtesy of EMI to produce fresh Hip Hop with nostalgic charm. Imagine Pete Rock meets Mark Ronson meets Biggie Smalls and you’ll get somewhere close.
This feel good album is the sound of your next workout, summer vacation and daydream all rolled into one neatly packaged 12 track album”
Layers
Imperial
Label: Illect Recordings
“Imperial’s knack for making that good ol’ boom-bap sound classic and current is on full display. Whether it be the soulful hip hop styles of ‘We Do This’ or the lo-fi hip hop vibes of ‘Future Fragile’ this project leaves no stone unturned.
It is often said that there are ‘levels to this’, but Imperial’s instrumental project proves that there are ‘layers to this’ as well. Prepare to embed yourself in a meticulous patchwork of woven emotions showcasing the beautiful nuances of the human experience. “
Palm Street
Imperial & K.I.N.E.T.I.K.
Label: Chill Masters
“Imperial and K.I.N.E.T.I.K. team up with french label Chill Masters to produce a 3 track EP that is perfect for those long summer nights cruising in the whip.
This is soulful hip hop at it’s finest.”
Adventures In Technicolour
Imperial & K.I.N.E.T.I.K.
Label: Illect Recordings
“Sonically and thematically, a kaleidoscopic intensity pulsates throughout the album’s nineteen tracks. The palette of shades and hues that make up the adventure known as life are paraded in their full and picturesque glory. Fusing Old School Hip Hop with modern sensibilities this album takes the then to the now.
Guest appearances include the frequent excursionist himself, Oddisee, the UK’s hardest working class Dad, Micall Parknsun, Michigan’s freshest rhymesayer, James Gardin and their tried and trusted hook hitman, Tone Richardson, among others.
Prepare to laugh in the face of monochrome mundanity and experience a multicoloured smorgasbord of livewire lyricism laid atop a bed of fluorescent funk.”
Pencils Not Pistols
Imperial & K.I.N.E.T.I.K.
Label: Illect Recordings
“Pencils Not Pistols is the debut E.P. from UK duo Imperial and K.I.N.E.T.I.K. The sample-based production on ‘Pencils Not Pistols’ united both Imperial and K.I.N.E.T.I.K. in their love for that strong tradition in Hip Hop. The duo pay homage with their artwork; as it is a parody of Biz Markie’s 90s Hip Hop classic, ‘I Need A Haircut’.
If Bill & Ted cancelled a few excellent adventures and decided to make a Hip Hop project; then it would probably sound like this… Put your pencils in the air.
